Many coating systems and construction chemical products such as mortars, fillers, waterproofing systems and adhesives suffer from inhomogeneous drying and the resulting stress cracks, especially at high application rates. Armipent® additives prevent them and maintain flexibility and tensile strength. The reason is the fibrillary fiber structure, which forms a 3D network in the later product that has a bridging effect.
Our silica modification assists in the separation of the fibers and improves the attachment to the product matrix. Details about application properties are shown in our technical information.
Modified cellulose fiber
Reinforcement with modified cellulose fibers
With a fibril-like fiber structure and similar silica modification, the ArmiCell series additives offer similar performance benefits when compared to Armipent. Due to the higher hydrophilicity of the fibers, ArmiCell is particularly suitable for incorporation in medium-polar to polar formulations.
ArmiCell increases tensile strength while minimizing the impact on flexibility. By incorporating ArmiCell, aqueous formulations cure more controlled and homogeneous. This helps to prevent stress cracks even more efficiently.
