Modified polyolefin fibers as rheology modifier

Armipent® Series 2

Armipent® consists of fibrillated polyolefin fibers which have been modified by silica in a special mixing process. The fibers help in the formulation of coatings, paints, adhesives, and cement/gypsum based products by forming a fiber network in the later formulation which imparts structural viscosity and plasticity.

The special advantage of Armipent® as rheology modifier is its very broad compatibility with all types of medium polar to non-polar systems. The silica content avoids the formation of fiber clumps and allows for an easy and homogeneous fiber distribution. This is true for the manufacturing process as well as in the application.

Armipent® series

The individual products of the Armipent® series differ in the fiber length and silica content and thus in the thickening effect and strength of the achieved structural viscosity.

The current Armipent® Series 2 is a logical enhancement of our original Armipent® series. It is characterized by a further improved incorporation behavior and is free of hazardous substances.

ArmiCell

tile adhesive additive - ArmiCell for crack bridging and viscosity adjustment - rheology modifier

Our ArmiCell products are rheology additives made from highly branched cellulose fibers of different length, which are particularly suitable for use in medium-polar to polar systems. This includes dispersion fillers, aqueous bitumen dispersions and cement-based systems. During the production of ArmiCell, the fibers are modified with silica particles, which significantly improves the incorporation properties.

The branched fiber structure of ArmiCell allow for a much higher thickening effect and viscosity compared to linear fibers.

Thixotropic agents based on hydrogenated castor oil (HCO)

Polythix

Hydrogenated castor oil is mainly used in medium-polar to non-polar binder systems to control their flow behavior and give them thixotropic properties. This effectively prevents sedimentation of fillers and pigments and prevents draining on vertical surfaces. With Polythix P505 we offer a very fine-grained powder whose optimum incorporation temperature is at a low 40 – 55 ° C.

Polythix:

If the sometimes complicated and expensive temperature activation during incorporation should be avoided completely, our ready-to-use HCO pastes are the suitable solution. They are already activated and available based on castor oil (Polythix R 100) and soybean oil (Polythix S 100).
